This article details various glitch meta-map scripts on Route 6 in Pokémon Yellow.

The script is controlled by memory address D5FF.

Highlights

  • 0x03-0x08: Walking lag with sound effects
  • 0x0A, 0x10, 0x13: Game freeze
  • 0x0B, 0x11, 0x12, 0x17: Arbitrary code execution at D7C8
  • 0x0C, 0x0E, 0x0F: Sound effects followed by invalid opcode 0xDD at 0A:4D48. If skipped (possibly on Virtual Console), also a game freeze.
  • 0x0D: Glitch music/cries play, player is frozen on the spot
  • 0x16: Game freeze (different apparent result/black screen)
  • 0x18: Keep playing a sound on repeat, but can still move with walking lag. The sound is actually the start of a channel of the Route 3 music, which can be listened to by opening the menu (and receiving a 15 error)
