In Pokémon Heartgold/Soulsilver areas entitled '----' are those which refer to any of several hundred maps which act as [[placeholder]]s in between multiple areas normally accessible within the game. The concept of these placeholder maps are very similar to the [[Mystery Zone]] in Pokémon Diamond/Pearl/Platinum however those maps also corresponded with tunnels in the underground that are normally unaccesible without the player moving around first.
Like the '[[Mystery Zone]]s' these areas also act as error handlers for the undefined areas surrounding real routes or as fillers when considering Kanto/Johto as one large map.
---- is most usually seen consisting of either blank space, several rows of trees, water or any combination of these features. Whilst in ---- the music for Route 29 usually plays; but unlike most [[Mystery Zone]]s from Diamond/Pearl these do not appear to play a slightly-different version of the original song; although it is currently unknown whether the game uses completely different values for the music in ----.

# Enter an [[Gameshark|Action Replay]] to walk-through-walls.
# Attempt to move through objects surrounding the area into areas which are normally inaccessible.
