Activating events while facing the wrong way is a trick in Pokémon Red, Green, Blue, and Yellow. If the player presses down on the d-pad to change direction at about the same time they interact with an NPC or object, they may be able to activate an event while facing the wrong way.
Examples
- If the player is able to talk to a NPC, pressing A and moving away from it on the same frame (simultaneously) will have the NPC turn towards the player, but their dialog will not show up.
- If the player is in front of the PC looking up, pressing A and a direction on the same frame will have the PC boot up while the player is not looking towards it (known as "swag"ging a PC).
- In Pokémon Red, Green, and Pokémon Blue (Japanese) only, the player can use a Card Key while facing the wrong way to temporarily destroy objects other than doors (see Card Key glitch).
