Activating events while facing the wrong way is a trick in Pokémon Red, Green, Blue, and Yellow. If the player presses down on the d-pad to change direction at about the same time they interact with an NPC or object, they may be able to activate an event while facing the wrong way.
Examples
- NPCs may turn in the direction the player was facing them without bringing up any text, if he/she tries to talk to them but turns away.
- The player can move in front of a PC, turn and repeatedly press A to bring up a PC while facing the wrong way (known as "swag"ging a PC).
- In Pokémon Red, Green, and Pokémon Blue (Japanese) only, the player can use a Card Key while facing the wrong way to temporarily destroy objects other than doors (see Card Key glitch).
