The artificial shininess glitch, also known as Dorado trick is a glitch in Pokémon Gold, Silver and Crystal.
"Dorado trick" appears to be a play on the El Dorado (Spanish for "the golden one").
If the player obtains a ????? (FE) with arbitrary code execution, then swapping into that Pokémon in battle will make it appear as a golden version of the previous Pokémon.
If the ????? (FE) is in the front spot, it will appear as a golden version of the player character instead.
The glitch can be performed with other ????? for different colors. In Gold, 00 gives a bronze color, FC a golden color like FE, and FF a silver color.
