If the player turns the power of the console on while tilting the control-stick in a certain direction, or disconnects the controller and re-connects it with the control-stick tilted in a certain position, the game will act like that position is always held down, until the problem is fixed.
A recurring problem has existed within Nintendo's [[wikipedia:analog stick|control-stick]] based consoles until the relatively recent release of the Nintendo Wii, which was launched in Japan on December 2, 2006. The problem exists within the Nintendo 64 (N64) and the Nintendo Gamecube (N64) and is caused when the player turns the power of the console on, whilst holding the control-stick so that it stays until released in a certain position, other than the neutral position (the center of the control-stick).

When the game is loaded, the console will take the direction that the player was initially pushing the control-stick as the new neutral positon. The problem can be exploited so that the player does not have to put any input into the controller at all, by moving into an irregularly angled wall.
