Dress up Hiker glitch: Difference between revisions

Line 45:
In normal gameplay, in order to have been facing to the right the player would have to be one step to the left of the Hiker. To be facing left the player would have to be one step to the right of the Hiker and to be facing north the player would have to be one step to the south of the Hiker. In Pokémon Diamond and Pearl however, this glitch allows the player to change his or her direction once more to close the "Ooh, choose which Pokémon you want to dress up." message, hence the game would 'act' as if the player's co-ordinates were any of those mentioned above. No clipping techniques are defined for blocking the player, explaining why the player may be able to walk through walls or the Hiker after exploiting this glitch. One of the reasons for this is likely because in normal gameplay, the player would not attempt to walk through the Hiker or the wall anyway, so clipping techniques would not be required.

The exact reason why Nintendo allowed the player to close a dialogue box via the directional pad is unknown, although the feature was removed in later versionsgames such as Pokémon Platinum.
