From outside of battle, this glitch item will function as an Escape Rope that doesn't automatically close the menu. The quantity of the item is decreased as expected, and Professor Oak's message that it isn't the time to use the item will be brought up if not used in a location where the player character can use an Escape Rope.
 
This glitch item shares its effect pointer with item $1D (ESCAPE ROPE), and is used in the setup of [[ItemDex/RB:106|-gm]] ACE, as the 8th item name character is byte $e9 (jp hl).
 
When used within a battle, it may result in Professor Oak's message that it isn't the time to use the item.
