It is an [[unterminated name glitch item]], hence provides the effects associated with those glitches and allows for glitches such as [[Yami Shop glitch]] and [[LOL glitch]].
Stray characters may be printed on lines below the item name. This is due to the control character $4e in the name, which tells the text engine to go to a new line.
When a [[0x50 sub-tile]] is in the saved screen copy, this glitch item brings up Professor Oak's message that it isn't the time to use the item.
This glitch item shares its effect pointer with item $2A (HELIX FOSSIL), but the fossil scientist at Cinnabar Island's Pokémon Lab won't recognise it as a fossil.
