Using this glitch item outside of battle with a 0x50 sub-tile saved in the early screen data will result in the player throwing a Poké Ball with one of Professor Oak's 'good' Pokédex jingles. This Poké Ball rolls 256 times until a glitchy sprite appears, Hyper Beam's animation is played and another Poké Ball is thrown, however the game then freezes.
If an early 0x50 sub-tile is forced on to the screen in battle (e.g. with arbitrary code execution) this glitch item
If the sub-tile is not on the screen, the game may freeze the game due to the item not being an unterminated name glitch item.

After corrupting D35E (item 33 quantity and item 34), the player can switch the map view to an early 0x50 sub-tile with Pokédex (glitch item), and enable the effect that lets the player steal the opponent's Pokémon. The pointer that works varies based on the tileset. It may be possible to combine this with the participants glitch to write 02 to D056 (in Trainer battle).
