In the Italian and Spanish versions of Pokémon Red and Blue, the trick works, but the player has to use a [[walk through walls trick (ledge method)]] and walk on the left-facing shore tile, otherwise (if the player was just surfing) they will encounter [[bp:Tentacool (Pokémon)|Tentacool]].
In the French and German versions, the left-facing shore tile glitch works normally. In all versions of {{RGB}}, as well as {{Yellow}} the glitch seemingly does not occur.
