The lift glitch is one of the special menu Select glitches in Pokémon Red, Green, and Pokémon Blue (Japanese), the other being the badge describer glitch.
It involves swapping destination entries on a list using the Select button.

For unknown reasons, this trick doesn't always work.
- Swap 1F with 2F.
- Swap 4F with 1F.
- Swap 5F with 6F.
- Swap 7F with 8F.
- Swap 1F with 2F.
