Line 1:
A lock-up Trainer battle is a glitch effect that occurs in RGRBY.
Japan only

This glitch occurs when trying to encounter certain invalid rosters containing a glitch Pokémon whose experience calculation includes a division by zero, which causes the game to softlock in the overworld after starting the battle music. Once locked up, the game will remain unplayable until a reset, or a memory hack to bypass the freeze.
A lock-up Trainer battle is a glitch effect that occurs in RG.

Similarly to the experience division by 0 glitch, this glitch applies to glitch Pokémon with an experience group of 0x95 or 0xFF, respectively Glitch (0xCA) and 4(h4? (0xED) in English versions of Y. However no invalid roster containing these glitch Pokémon has been found so far, therefore this glitch only exists in Japanese versions of RG and non-English European versions of RB.
For unknown reasons a number of glitch Trainer rosters will lock-up the game with the battle music playing and the player never gets the ability to battle them. NPCs will stop moving.
