This article details various glitch meta-map scripts in Viridian City's Pokémon Gym in Pokémon Red and Blue.
The script is controlled by memory address D5FB.
Highlights
Done at entrance:
- 0x05: May make the player make on step up, before loading Giovanni's defeat text. Player may continue to walk up a little after this. Meta-map script may be changed back to 0x00 afterwards.
- 0x0F: The d-pad while the menu is closed may be disabled. The ability to access the Start menu is unaffected.
- 0x12: Invalid opcode at region 1D:5366 in the ROM. It may be possible to avoid this on the Nintendo 3DS Virtual Console version (unconfirmed), where an invisible glitch text box with glitch audio may appear.
- 0x14: Music may be altered slightly, and every time the player takes a step a short sound effect may play.
- 0x15: May cause arbitrary code execution at region D0E4 in RAM.
