This article details various glitch meta-map scripts for the Route 8 gate in Pokémon Red and Blue.
This script is controlled by memory address D637.
Highlights
- 0x01: Unknown/script may change back to 0x00
- 0x02: Enables bypassing guard
- 0x03: Screen may flash black and game may freeze
- 0x04: Enables bypassing guard
- 0x05: Screen may flash black and game may freeze
- 0x06: Game may freeze without loading NPC sprites
- 0x07: Controls other than Start to open the menu may lock up. If D367 (map permissions) is changed, player can Fly away (and likely Teleport/Escape Rope/Dig away), with no known side effects
