The Pikachu desync glitch, also known as delayed Pikachu follow is a glitch in Pokémon Yellow, documented by liline and rediscovered by gnsquared.

When the walking Pikachu in the party is fainted, making one step on to the "purified, protected zone" in Pokémon Tower while holding a button down in another direction will cause Pikachu to be one extra step behind the player, or on the same tile as the player.

The effects do not seem to stack.

The glitch can be fixed by doing any of the following things:

  • Leaving the room via stairs or Escape Rope.
  • Making certain movements. [elaboration needed]
  • Fainting Pikachu and not performing the glitch again.
