The Pokémon Tower Pokédex glitch is a glitch in RBY.
A relatively minor glitch exists within the Generation I Pokémon games. Usually the Pokédex should register Pokémon that the player has seen however, when the player encounters a ghost in the Pokémon Tower if the player does not have the Silph Scope, according to the game the relevant Pokémon cannot be identified. Regardless of this, the Pokédex still registers the Pokémon which was the ghost as seen.

In Lavender Town's Pokémon Tower, seeing a Gastly, Haunter or Cubone disguised as a Ghost will register it as seen in the Pokédex, even if the player has not revealed its identity with the Silph Scope.

Normally, the effects of this glitch cannot be seen with Cubone, because there is an unavoidable Pokémaniac with a Cubone in the first area of Rock Tunnel from Route 10.
