The Professor Oak Trainer glitch is a is a glitch that occurs in Pokémon Red, Blue, and Yellow. It is caused by a bug in the game's engine.
If the barrier separating the southern exit of Seafoam Islands from the right half of Sea Route 20 is crossed through various walk through wall glitches, trainers fought on the west half of Sea Route 20 will appear to become Professor Oak once fought.
Procedure
- Enable Brock Through Walls in Pewter City
- Fly to Cinnabar Island
- Walk through the edge of the area where there is no water
- Touch the wall barrier that connects
- Go back to the signpost that reads Seafoam Islands
- Without getting an encounter, talk to an unfought trainer
- Once talked to, the trainer will turn into Professor Oak
