One way the truck can be seen without using a glitch is to acquire Cut from the Captain, and then force all of your Pokémon to faint while still on the ship. You will wake up at the Pokémon Canter, and the ship will not have set sail. After that, the player can make it through the game until HM03 (Surf) is obtained, and then head back to the S.S. Anne and surf to the right platform. However, a much easier way is to use the [[Surfing glitch]].
There is no currently known reason for the truck's existence. People think that it might be an easter egg, a remnant, or just a joke.
