The Safari Zone trainer item toss glitch occurs in Generation I. It allows the player to toss 1× or more from the first item in the player's inventory, even if it is a key item.
Steps
- Use a glitch to encounter a trainer in the Safari Zone (such as text pointer manipulation or arbitrary code execution).
- Throw a Safari Ball at that trainer's Pokémon. The quantity on the Safari Zone menu should not decrease.
- Have that Pokémon flee. The quantity of the first item will decrease the number of times the Safari Ball was used.
Extensions
- If a previous glitch was used to change the bag counter to 0 items, this glitch can be used to obtain a counter of 255 items and finish the item underflow glitch.
