Select glitch: Difference between revisions

Edit for readability, add template and adjust a detail (you actually aren't swapping items with Pokémon, etc. but if you pressed Select on item 7 you could swap Pokémon 7 with another Pokémon and so on). RE: ACE, I don't know if many use it for that.

This trick is often used in tool-assisted runs of Pocket Monsters to get items or Pokemon early, usually to get the setup necessary to perform [[Arbitrary code execution]].
 
In all other versions, the [[SRAM glitch]] can be used as a substitute to some extent.
This glitch was fixed in Pocket Monsters Pikachu and all overseas versions of Pokémon Red, Blue, and Yellow.
 
Select glitches may be used by players to obtain specific items, moves, Pokémon, fight special Trainers, warp to different locations and so on, and the [[dokokashira door glitch]] (which allows the player to warp to the Hall of Fame) is an example of a Select glitch popular in tool-assisted speedruns of Pocket Monsters Red, Green (and Blue).
