Select glitch red-bar is an application of Select glitches in Pokémon Red and Green and Japanese Pokémon Blue.
In battle, by swapping move 8 or 9 with move 2-4, the player can give the user a higher maximum HP, while at the same time having its cap on the party menu. This then can provide the "low HP" sound effects for that Pokémon, if the difference is significantly high. Sometimes, this may delete the move 2-4 swapped after battle.
