An unused encounter system exists in Pokémon {{Yellow}} with an index number ofID 03. It is accessible with the code [[cheatingCheating device|GameShark code]] code 010359D0 andor doesby notexploiting exista incomplex Pokémonglitch Redknown andas Blue[[Text pointer manipulation mart buffer overflow glitch]].
 
When this battle system is in actiontriggered, the[[bp:Red player(game)|Red's]] 'backsprite'back sprite will appear but no Pokémon will be sent out. The FIGHT option will yield the message "Hurry, get away!" (Japanese: 「はやく にげるのじゃ!」, roughly ''run away quickly!'').
 
If an itemITEM is usedchosen, the game will automatically selectpick and use the first oneitem on the Bag in a similar fashion to howthe [[bp:Professor Oak|Professor attemptsOak]] to catch a Pikachututorial at the beginning of thea journey where he catches [[bp:Red's Pikachu (game)|Red's Pikachu]]. Pokémon can be switched out using {{PK}}{{MN}} in this battle system,mode howeverbut the wild Pokémon will not make a move. If the player selects runRUN, they will runalways awaysuccessfully from battle[[bp:Escape|escape]], apparentlyeven with a 100% flee rate. It is possible to flee fromin Trainer battles with this encounter system just by 'run'.

It is possible that this battle mode was meant to replace "[[Wild appeared!]]" while encountering a Pokémon without having any.
