This glitch allows the player to obtain all of the three first partner Pokémon in Pokémon Gold, Silver and Crystal.

Requirements

• A Pokémon Gold, Silver and Crystal game with no save file (or one that the player doesn't mind deleting).

Procedure

1. Start a new game.
2. When the player has gotten through the "Welcome to the world of Pokémon!" opening, they should go outside and save before obtaining their first partner Pokémon.
3. The player should continue through the game normally until they get to a point where Pokémon can be caught. Note: Do NOT save the game at anytime during this step.
4. Catch a Pokemon and then go to the Pokemon Center in Cherrygrove City.
5. Perform the Cloning glitch and then clone the first partner Pokemon. Note:The player should NOT save in front of the PC.
6. If the clone was successful, the player will be in the location where they last saved, which should be before they got a first partner Pokémon.
7. Go into Prof. Elm's Lab and pick a different first partner with the first partner the player just chose in his or her party.
8. Go to the Pokemon Center in Cherrygrove and the original first partner Pokémon will be in the PC.
9. To get the last of the first partner Pokémon, start at step three and repeat up to step eight.
