Reason given: Does this version of the Generation II glitch Egg copy any data other than the typing and base stats?

; when specified as an Egg that hatches from itself, or when the game attempts to load data for Pokémon 253 is glitch Pokémon in Pokémon Gold and Silver.

When faces a wild Pokémon, its typing will change to that of the wild Pokémon.

When faces a Trainer, its typing will change to that of the first Pokémon sent out.

Similarly, the typing and base stats of an opposing wild Egg are taken from the first Pokémon sent out by the user in a wild battle, or a Pokémon that was out before the wild Egg was sent out in a Trainer battle.

For unknown reasons, encountering a wild Egg may corrupt the graphics that relate to how many Poké Balls (party members) the player has.

This effect on the player's Poké Ball graphics does not seem to apply when encountering a Trainer House Trainer with an Egg in their party, however.

Additionally attempting to load 's backsprite may cause the game to freeze.

Methods to obtain

  1. Byte shifting via (00) or (FF) (available through stabilizing a bad clone or arbitrary code execution) (e.g. byte shift a total experience of 253 or 64768-65023 and then stabilize the glitch Pokémon at the Day Care); unconfirmed.
  2. ????? party overloading roaming Pokémon manipulation (if Egg's capture flag was set after the party overloading, it can be caught with no issues).
  3. Arbitrary code execution (e.g. through Coin Case, wrong pocket TMs, glitch Pokédex modes).

Notes

's Pokédex entry may freeze the game sometimes, and not freeze the game at other times.
