The Pokédex (Japanese: ポケモンずかん Illustrated Book of Pokémon) is an unobtainable Key Item in Pokémon Red, Green, Blue, and Yellow. It was previously known as ポケモンファイル Pokémon File during the development of Pokémon Red and Green.[1]
This item simply redirects the player to the regular Pokédex feature[2][3] and can be used in battle, which will cause graphics corruption that can be partially reversed by opening the Pokémon List and/or switching out the current Pokémon. In Pokémon Yellow, using the "PRNT" option will also perform a sound bank switch that breaks the sound effects of moves.
The battle effects of this item are shared with ItemDex/RB:137 and ItemDex/Y:137.
