The Pokédex (Japanese: ポケモンずかん Illustrated Book of Pokémon) is an unobtainable Key Item in RGBY. It was previously known as ポケモンファイル Pokémon File during the development of Pokémon Red and Green.

This item simply redirects the player to the regular Pokédex feature and can be used in battle, which will cause graphics corruption that can be partially reversed by opening the Pokémon List and/or switching out the current Pokémon. In Y, using the "PRNT" option will also perform a sound bank switch that breaks the sound effects of moves.
The Pokédex (Japanese: ポケモンずかん) is a device for registering seen and caught Pokémon that is accessed from the menu.

The effectbattle effects of this glitch item isare shared with ##E# (hex:89) in RB and 4# # # (hex:89) in Y.
In RBY it also appears as a glitch item in an item inventory with an index number of 09 that functions the same outside of battle as the Pokédex on the menu.

The Pokédex glitch item may also be used within battle. After closing it, it will cause a turn to elapse and corrupt the graphics. Specifically both of the user and opponent's sprites will be replaced with overworld graphics and HP bars may be replaced with letters.
