The Pokédex (Japanese: ポケモンずかん) is a device for registering seen and caught Pokémon that is accessed from the menu.

In Pokémon Red, Blue, and Yellow it also appears as a glitch item in an item inventory with an index number of 09 that functions the same outside of battle as the Pokédex on the menu.

The Pokédex glitch item may also be used within battle. After closing it, it will cause a turn to elapse and corrupt the graphics. Specifically both of the user and opponent's sprites will be replaced with overworld graphics and HP bars may be replaced with letters.

The effect of this glitch item is shared with ##E# (hex:89) in Pokémon Red and Blue and 4# # # (hex:89) in Pokémon Yellow.
