(view, talk, edit)
This glitch is for a home console Pokémon game.
In Pokémon Battle Revolution, for certain moves such as Heat Wave, if a Pokémon with a Life Orb uses the move with an amount of HP at least 10% lower than its maximum HP the Pokémon will faint first due to the Life Orb damage and the attack animation will come immediately after. This makes it appear that the move is essentially 'coming out of nowhere'.

The Life Orb glitch is a phenomenum only present in Pokémon Battle Revolution. If the user's Pokémon, or an opponent's Pokémon holding a Life Orb uses a certain attacking move such as Heat Wave or Surf the Pokémon will faint from the Life Orb damage before using the move. Immediately after the Pokémon faints, the move is then performed which makes it appear that no Pokémon had performed the move.

Explanation

For certain attacking moves the Life Orb recoil hits the Pokémon before the move is performed, whilst for every other attacking move the Life Orb recoil happens after the move is performed. The exact reasoning behind this is uncomfirmed although it could be suggested purely by speculation that certain moves such as Overheat would require the opponent to 'gather energy first' unlike mostly physical moves such as Close Combat which are performed 'immediately'.

The engine in Pokémon Battle Revolution ensures that a Pokémon will faint immediately after its hitpoints reaches zero and not necessarily at the end of the turn. This is required for moves such as Spikes which should faint a Pokémon as soon as it comes out of its Pokéball if it is on low hitpoints. In this case, the Pokémon has fainted but the turn still hasn't finished. Even though the Pokémon has fainted, nothing prevents the game from performing the next logical action by using the next move.
