As it is an unterminated name glitch item, it can be used for screen data exploits like [[LOL glitch]] or will usually cause the [[TMTRAINER effect]] in battle.
In other occasions from outside of battle for when the 0x50 sub-tile is later on the screen, the glitch item may act as a screen data saving glitch item, corrupt the player's sprite and/or movement, or result in a battle with the Hooked Metapod, depending on where the 0x50 sub-tile is.
If a [[0x50 sub-tile]] is early enough on the screen, using this glitch item outside of battle will act as [[????? (glitch item)|????? (also known as the 'surfboard')]].
