Unterminated name glitch Pokémon

If you have a Link Cable, you can also trade it over. No ACE is required to get it in Generation I if you use an item like Red/Blue's 9F repeatedly. This will eventually corrupt the stack up to the box names, then you can save and reset to apply those changes. There's a set up I like to use with a traded Lapras with Perish Song, Bide and Safeguard. We could also add to this guide it's easier to get unterminated name glitch Pokémon in Stadium 2 if you reset when "Saving..." appears. While this is true, it's hard to justify this over the much simpler method that only requires one game. I could see it implemented into this guide as a last resort for people who never zeroed out their save file beforehand and are unwilling to do it now, thus being unable to obtain bad clones, however I wouldn't recommend such a method over the much easier option.
Fact of the matter is, hitting the Bad Clone timing for an unterminated name Pokémon is, at worst, one frame perfect input at 30 FPS that can be retried as many times as necessary. I feel as though the bad clone timing gets a bad stigma due to the "real" bad clone timing being much harder (and required for Time Capsule Exploit at the time) when in actuality the timing for an unterminated name is not very difficult. Yeah I can see that. A lot of the issue is having too little Pokémon in the box or not knowing when to reset, or people not wanting to keep trying (who want a 100% success method)/fear of corrupting the box too hard, etc. The trade method can be added for reference for the purpose of a wiki, and because what is an 'ideal' method is subjective. An alternative method should be fine even if people simply do not like the timing method. Evie (Torchickens) (talk) 15:08, 22 April 2023 (UTC)Reply[reply]
