A glitch caller (indexed as B5 in hexadecimal) attempts to contact the player.

A glitch caller, in the second generation of Pokémon games, is an unused phone number in the Pokégear. Such callers, which may only be contacted when using a game-altering device, have invalid (or no) data associated with them. Most of their names are derived from name banks in the game's memory, while others use glitch text. A full comprehensive list will be given in the PhoneDex once it is completed.

Most glitch callers crash the game or trigger the Glitch Dimension, while others don't do anything at all. However, other trigger interesting effects, such as D8. When a player is called by D8, they will be able to walk through walls and access Glitch City for the duration of the call. Other glitch callers will play the credits (and one of them will allow the player to save and beat the game afterward.) Another glitch caller, when called, will give the player a Master Ball before promptly crashing the game.

Method (Pokémon Gold and Silver)

  1. Enter the GameShark code 01XXC6D9, where XX should be replaced with the hex identifier of the glitch caller (such as D8, mentioned above). Players who want to be contacted by the glitch caller (rather than the other way around) should also enable the code 01048FD1.
  2. If using 01XXC6D9 access your contact list through the Pokégear. The original trainer should have been replaced by a glitch caller occupying the same hexadecimal identifier you entered. If combined with 01048FD1 the glitch caller should contact you every four seconds.
