The Pokédex is a device for registering seen and caught Pokémon that is accessed from the menu.
In Pokémon Red, Blue, and Yellow it also appears as a glitch item in an item inventory that functions the same outside of battle as the Pokédex on the menu.
The Pokédex glitch item may also be used within battle. After closing it, it will cause a turn to elapse and corrupt the graphics.
