When activated, the next trainer which appears will appear on the map as an ordinary trainer but will display the dialogue "Now come! Show me, the Tower Tycoon what you're really made of!" This alone is notable because this string of dialogue is normally [[unused dialgoue|never used]] within the game and may have been intended as the original message Palmer gives to the player, however the game instead normally sets the value of another byte to 01, making Palmer appear and walk up to the player and inform him or her that he is [[bp:Barry|Barry]] (or the name of the player's rival)'s father, so this message normally never appears.

When the player battles this trainer however, he or she will appear as the normal Tower Tycoon but if he is defeated, the player will recieve the default amount of battle points, rather than the usual 20 (or more) battle points. This glitch no longer exists in Pokémon Platinum because if the player selected 'NO' he or she would be sent back to the initial menu.

==Explanation==

When the player selects the option 'KEEP GOING' the game will set the value of an additional byte to 01, so that the Tower Tycoon walks slowly up to the player, instead of another trainer who would walk up to the player at a normal speed. This also changes the dialogue of the Tower Tycoon, so that he welcomes the player and informs the player who he is. If the player does not choose this option however, the byte will still remain at 00 and the game will treat the next trainer as one who is part of the usual streak. Palmer will instead give his default speech for such an event "Show me, the Tower Tycoon what you're really made of!" and since the game will treat him as a normal trainer, the player will only recieve 3 or more Battle Points.

The Tower Tycoon; treated as a generic trainer. Note that this speech is normally never used in the final game.

The Fake Tower Tycoon glitch is a miscellaneous glitch which only exists within Pokémon Diamond and Pearl. The glitch will happen when the player reaches the Tower Tycoon but instead of choosing the option 'KEEP GOING' immediately, they select 'REST' first, but selects 'NO' to proceed to the next trainer.

When activated, the next trainer which appears will appear on the map as an ordinary trainer but will display the dialogue "Now come! Show me, the Tower Tycoon what you're really made of!" This string of dialogue is normally never used within the game and may have been intended as the original message Palmer gives to the player, however the game instead normally makes Palmer appear and walk up to the player and inform him or her that he is Barry (or the name of the player's rival)'s father.

The Trainer will appear in battle as the normal Tower Tycoon, but if he is defeated, the player will receive the default amount of battle points, rather than the usual 20 (or more) battle points.

Method

  1. Reach the 21st Streak of the Battle Tower (i.e. clear it three times consecutively)
  2. Select the option 'REST'
  3. Select the option 'NO'
  4. The game should treat the Tower Tycoon as an ordinary trainer.
