Pokédex move 0x00 manipulation is a glitch technique that occurs in Pokémon Red, Blue, and Yellow, and is most useful in Pokémon Yellow due to a change that means carrying over saved screen data from outside of battle into battle is no longer possible in Yellow. This change meant move 0x00 corruptions were previously restricted only to two possible corruptions from solely within battle (MissingNo. and Horsea).
Execution
To perform this glitch, obtain - (Generation I move) and open and close the Pokédex in battle. This will corrupt the battle tiles, and in specific places (such as Route 1) a 0x50 sub-tile may appear on the screen.
Opening the items menu again will update the saved screen data, allowing the player to corrupt data by scrolling the Fight menu, allowing for not just MissingNo. (hex:32) and Horsea wild Pokémon corruptions but for other Pokémon as well such as Hitmonchan based on the map.
Advanced usage
It is possible to use a custom Glitch City by modifying D35E/D35F (map blocks on the screen) to obtain more Pokémon. This Glitch City can also be a RAM Glitch City, allowing for more Pokémon.
The Pokémon that can be obtained this way depend on both the tileset and the arrangement of tiles from the map building blocks. Obtaining the glitch Pokémon 3TrainerPoké₽ this way has also been confirmed.
A form of double distort glitch may also be possible.
